A personal engraving gives a piece of jewelry an individual and emotional touch. Wedding rings and engagement rings are transformed into unique pieces and gifts are given a subjective reference.
Engraving has enjoyed unbroken popularity for a long time. The basic process is thousands of years old. Archaeological finds indicate that the Sumerians and Babylonians were already engraving jewelry around 4000 BC. The advent of coin minting ultimately contributed to the refinement of the technique: impressive masterpieces of engraving art were created in ancient Rome, Greece and among the Scythians, among others.
What types of engraving exist?
Hand engraving: The oldest method is hand engraving, which is done freehand. A high degree of concentration, calm and experience is required to achieve a beautiful engraving. Its appearance is influenced by the angle and depth at which the characters are engraved. It has a special charm: incident rays of light are reflected in the engraved precious metal in many different ways and create a fascinating shine.
Diamond engraving: The name says it all - this engraving is carried out using a narrow diamond stylus. The result is a fine, deeply engraved font that is characterized by its good durability.
Laser engraving: One advantage of this type of engraving is the limitless design possibilities it offers. It allows complicated images or symbols to be engraved with perfect detail.
Intarsia engraving: This engraving is very rare and unusual. First, the desired motif is engraved into a piece of jewelry made of platinum or white gold. Then heated yellow gold is poured into this negative mold so that the letters or image appear as if they were painted on.
