The memory ring - often also called a memoire ring - is characterized by the fact that its ring band is set with gemstones of the same size all the way around. There are also models in which the gemstones are arranged in a row on the upper part of the ring.
The name can be explained by the fact that each of the gemstones, which in the classic memory ring are diamonds, represents a specific, unique experience of the owner that should be kept alive in the memory.
In many cases, memory rings are also used as wedding rings . In this case, the alternative name eternity ring is also used.
The Memory Ring and its History
The shape of the memory ring already existed in ancient Egypt: finds of metal rings surrounded by a continuous row of gemstones date back to the 2nd millennium BC. In a special variant in Egyptian high culture, the ring band of the memory ring was shaped like a coiled snake - a symbol of infinity.
