Leather wedding – the third wedding anniversary

The marriage is now as resilient as tanned leather, which has to withstand heat, rain, storms and cold. The couple has also already experienced smaller hurdles without being impressed by them. However, the "leather" can also be interpreted as meaning that the marriage must be well looked after in the future - just like the material that gives it its name.

The leather wedding is also known regionally as a fruit or wheat wedding. This means that the marriage has remained childless so far. The well-wisher who uses these terms is reminding the couple that it is about time to start thinking about having children.
