The cut is one of the four Cs and is therefore one of the most important criteria for determining the quality of a diamond, as it is largely responsible for its brilliance and its beguiling sparkle. It is important to know that the rainbow-colored shine of a diamond, its so-called fire, is best shown off with an optimal cut.
Criteria for high grinding quality
When evaluating the cut, the proportions of the diamond, the arrangement of the facets , the angles and the thickness of the girdle are particularly important. It also plays a role how smoothly and evenly the diamond has been polished.
The rating scale
Only very few diamonds have the optimal cut quality of excellent (≙ ideal). Such gemstones have an impressive brilliance because they reflect the light completely. Diamonds with a very good cut also have a wonderful radiance and deviate only very slightly from the ideal dimensions. In the subsequent grades, the fire is no longer as beautiful.
