A band ring has a uniformly wide ring band and is characterized by the fact that it is decorated with a cabochon-cut colored gemstone and two brilliant-cut diamonds framing it.
The band ring and its characteristics
The middle gemstone of the band ring – very often a sapphire, emerald or ruby – can optionally be faceted. It is usually round or oval, but there are also variations where it is cut in an emerald cut, for example. The gemstones are fixed using a rubbed setting, i.e. they are integrated directly into the piece of jewelry. With this type of setting, notches – cone-shaped for diamonds – are made in the precious metal of the ring band, into which the gemstones are inserted. This type of setting is stable because the precious metal is pressed against the side of the gemstone. The crown of the band ring usually rises slightly above the ring band, which is why rays of light can shine through despite the compact setting, thus highlighting the gemstone's inherent sparkle.
The band ring and its use as a wedding ring
The shape of a band ring is often chosen for wedding rings . This is particularly suitable because such a ring with its relatively wide ring band has enough space for an individual engraving. In its shape, the band ring is similar to a conventional wedding ring; the design only gets beautiful highlights from the row of gemstones. It is suitable for daily wear because the gemstones are securely integrated and the ring band is comfortable to wear.
